Mike and Chris

In 1984 when Mike and Chris sold their UK business they decided to immigrate to Spain. Therefore, and after much research chose Calp as the place they would settle down. It was the best decision they could have made.

Calp in those days was much different to how it is today. The tourist industry was in its infancy and there were fewer expats. Sailing was their passion, and the Balearic Islands just fifty miles away made for a perfect cruising area.

Calp has a wonderful climate, the local people are friendly and welcoming and in fact is a perfect place to retire to.

Two Daughters, Michelle a nurse working in the NHS, and Tracy, just finishing her education in the Uk. They also decided to move to Calp.

In those days before Spain joined the EU, it was not easy to find work unless you set up your own business. So Chris and Michelle, opened a boutique shop selling ladies and children’s fashions.  Mike and Tracy having completed her Spanish course in the University of Salamanca opened an insurance brokerage.

Michelle and Tracy

The two girls both went on to marry English boys who they met in Calp. Both settled down on the outskirts of town in the Urbanization known as La Empedrola, only five minutes’ walk away from each other. And five minute’s drive away from Mum and Dad who had recently finished building their fabulous new villa.

Mike and Tracy went on to establish a very successful plumbing/heating and construction business, whilst Michelle and Graham continued with the boutique.

By the beginning of the new millennium, both couples had produced three fine boys. All the boys were born and educated in Spain and of course are bilingual in Spanish and English. Living so near each other and the boys of similar ages growing up together the family became very close and would remain so until this day. However, in 2007 the global financial crisis hit the Spanish tourist industry which led to Michelle and Graham’s decision to give up the shop and return to the Uk

Having Mike and Tracy, with their office and team of builders, plumbers, etc. on the doorstep is a great asset when it comes to renting our villa’s. Things occasionally need fixing and it’s great to know that such problems, if they arise are dealt with and solved almost immediately. You can visit their web site here

During the Summer, Mike and Chris will be touring Europe in their caravan, Mike and Tracy are sailing around the Mediterranean, whilst their eldest son Matthew, keeps an eye on things at home. Unfortunately, Michelle and Graham will be in the UK working.
